There is a growing concern over the development in the field of artificial intelligence. The dangers of the advanced artificial intelligence in future has created debates in the scientific community. Tesla founder Elon Musk donated $10 million to the Future of Life Institute all due to his fears.Recently a group of protesters led by a computer engineer held signs and handed out t-shirts to protest robots at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. Their main concern was that robots could one day surpass human intelligence.
The slogan was “I say robot, you say no-bot!”
Some of the signs were “Stop the Robots”, “A-I, say goodbye” and “Humans are the future.”
The group declared that it was not against robots and AI, but they want technologies developed in a controlled manner. Many students from the University of Texas deeply concerned about the implications of the society where technology runs too deep.
“This is is about morality in computing,” said Adam Mason, 23, who organized the protest. He further added, “Planes can fly themselves, but the person who is ultimately responsible for landing a plane is a human.”
